Tragedy as Robbers StrangledPopular Widow, ‘Mama Do Good’ to Death in Kwara after they Steal Money and Bags of RiceSpeaking
exclusively to a Punch correspondent on Sunday, Mayor Akonobi, a member ofthe Igbo community in Chikanda,
a border community in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, disclosed that a widow identified as Mrs. Florence Ede, was been strangled by suspected robbers who had trailed her to the farm.It
was gathered that the mother of four popularly known as ‘Mama Do Good’ who hailed from Enugu State, had a huge amount of money on her and had wanted topay the labourers before she was killed.
The eyewitness revealed further that the robbers also carted away 12 bags of rice harvested fromthe food seller who came to the community in 1985, and later became a commercial farmer after the death of her husband.
“The only guard at thefarm when the incident occurred ran away when the assailants attacked her,” Akonobi added.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said the police had commenced investigation into the crime.
“The guard and the labourers have been arrested.
